How do I know if I need a repair or a full replacement?

This depends on the age of the roof, the extent of the damage, and the condition of the underlying deck. A localized repair makes sense for isolated issues on a roof that's otherwise in good condition. When damage is widespread, or the roof is at or near the end of its expected service life, replacement is often more economical over the long term. An inspection will tell you which situation you're in.

What should I do if I notice a leak during rain?

Contain any water reaching interior surfaces with towels or containers, and document the location. If accessible, check the attic for where water is entering. Contact us to schedule an inspection — try to note when the leak is most active and from which direction the wind was coming during the event, as this helps narrow down the source quickly.

Does hail damage always look obvious?

Not always. Hail can fracture the granule surface of asphalt shingles in ways that aren't visible from ground level but still compromise the shingle's ability to shed water over time. After significant hailstorms in Calgary, a professional inspection is worthwhile even if the roof looks intact from the street.

How often should a roof be professionally inspected in Calgary?

For a roof in good condition, an inspection every 3–5 years is a reasonable baseline. After a significant weather event — particularly a hailstorm — inspection makes sense regardless of when the last one was. For older roofs approaching their expected end-of-life, annual inspection is worth considering.
